Robert Kubica commented: " The day was very good. We have a lot of rounds to see how the tyres. Here in Hungary we use the softest tyre compound of the season, just like in Monaco. That is why we have a lot of long runs to see how the soft tyres behave over the distance. We now have a lot of data that we analyse tomorrow. So far, so good. The track conditions were not ideal. Off the line it& 39;s pretty dirty, but this situation is the same for all. "
Meanwhile, Kubica & 39; s team-mate Nick Heidfeld was in third place during the morning practice race, but also other drivers successfully overtook him and fell to sixth place after the race. During the afternoon practice race, Heidfeld impressively managed to fifth place and the clock in 1:21.517 aboard his No. 9 BMW Sauber F1.07 with BMW cold air intake.
After the practice of race, Heidfeld said: " For us, the meetings went well. We had no technical problems and got all the work done. But it is very difficult to get the tyres to work properly. Graining is an issue. As far as I could see other drivers have the same problem. I believe that the sequence between the top teams remains the same. Compared to last year F1.06, this year the car is of course better results at a high downforce circuits such as Monaco or Budapest. "
So far, there are no technical problems reported during the race, and BMW hopes that the F1.07 racing cars can also perform well during the actual race in Hungaroring.
Willy Rampf Technical Director of BMW-Sauber team concluded: " We have our program without problems. Only the brief shower in the afternoon interrupted easily. Anyway, we have enough data collected, we are now analysing. Konzentrierten we are in preparation race today. The decision for the choice of tyres requires more data. There is still a small chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday, so we have to take this into account and prepare accordingly. "
Watch forthcoming for the 2007 Grand Prix of Hungary and see if BMW drivers may also be in the race.
